The STC’s smash hit production of Steve Martin’s The Underpants runs for just four more performances (July 30-August 2) at the First Church, 316 Essex Street, in Salem.
North Shore Art*Throb raves “Get your tickets now! Fantastic!” about the STC’s production. The New York Times calls Martin’s script “laugh-out-loud funny.”
When Louise Maske’s bloomers fall down in public, the quiet, conservative lives of both her and her husband, Theo, are shattered. It doesn’t take long for a line-up of prospective and peculiar boarders to show up at the Maske’s front door. As scandal explodes into spectacle, the characters reflect – and reflect upon – our society’s fascination with fame, our reliance on gender roles, and our enslavement by sex.
The Underpants is the final Main Stage production of the STC’s 6th Season and is directed by Dominick Pangallo (Salem), with stage management by Jason Feran (Beverly). Jessica McGettrick (Salem) is the assistant stage manager and Alicia Greenwood (Beverly) designed the costumes. The cast includes Sarah Carlin (Beverly), Stephen Cooper (Marblehead), John Fogle (Marblehead), Bob Karish (Salem), Craig Owen (Georgetown), Caroline Watson-Felt (Salem), and James Wilcox (Beverly).
